Today’s project started with this square “bowl”. I bought it at another yard sale. Can you see how much of a junker I am yet? I buy things others would toss and yet we have the best time using these things. So here we have a square bowl. And I have Ron who is a wizard with tools. I asked him to make a table using this bowl and some table legs we had that were shorter than
normal height.
And this is what he came up with. I love it. There is a removeable piece of glass framed for the top of the table. I set the piece of coral on it so that you could see it was solid.
This would be wonderful to display vintage things that you wanted to keep little fingers from handling.
The legs were cut on a slant for the table they came off of. Ron had to cut them level first.
I love the shape of the “bowl”.
Look at the corners. I love the curve.
He used some scrap wood for the sides of the table, cutting them to fit. At first he mitered the corners and then decided to butt them to the legs and screw the base together.
It’s hard to see in this picture but he set the legs in place and then measured the size boards he needed. Cut the wood and attached the sides to the legs using a drill pocket jig.
Once the sides and legs were attached, he screwed them to the bowl.

Almost done.

He then made the frame for the glass mitering the corners and cutting a groove in each side to insert the glass. The glass won’t come out of this frame in one piece.

You can see the groove in this picture.

This probably isn’t a project for a beginner but it isn’t as hard as it sounds either. A little knowledge of power tools is necessary. Once it was all put together, we painted it with Country White Satin from Dutch Boy. That paint dries with the nicest finish. It doesn’t show brush strokes.

I hope you all have a very Happy New Year! Pat.

I love the little table. What wonderful work you did..it’s such a great place to display your prettiest things.
Wonderful! You really made that into quite a showcase! Cute!
Genius!
beautiful! I love it!
I wouldn’t have given that bowl a second glance! You have great vision! It would be a great display piece for family tresures. Makes me want to go junking!
Ron reminds me of my dad. He does stuff like this too! He took a dresser once and turned it into a coffee table. Growing up we used to call our living room “Roadside” because almost everything in it was something he found in the trash and restored. Thanks for linking!!
That is WAY too cute!!! Great job!
Wow! I LOVE THIS! Ron sounds like my hubby! I keep him busy with all my little “projects” too! This one is just fantastic! Keep ‘em coming, Pat!
Thanks for the visit and sweet words.
