Today we could only find one sale to visit. It looked so bright outside. Since Ron had already been outside I asked if it was cold. He said it wasn’t too bad. I forgot he doesn’t get as cold as I do so I put on a lightweight jacket. It was SO COLD outside I almost froze instantly! I couldn’t believe how cold I felt. The sky on the horizon was black. The clouds were flying low. I told Ron it was going to snow but he told me it was too warm. Too warm?? By the time we got to the sale, flurries were flying. To Warm? I didn’t think so. Thank goodness it was an inside sale. I may have frozen solid otherwise. This was the coldest weekend we’ve had to go thrifting so far. The church is having a sale every weekend in February. I’m hoping next weekend will be more pleasant. We did find a few things.
I haven’t decided if I’ll leave this shelf the way it is or paint it. I think it would look really cute distressed.
I love these old drawers from an antique sewing machine cabinet.
I’ve never heard of The New Home S.M. Co.
I found a couple pieces of glassware.
My favorite is the fish.
I love these small tin measuring cups.
This little table is my favorite. I’ll probably paint it black.
After the yard sale, we went to the Goodwill Outlet store I’ve mentioned before. All we found today was books. I can always be certain of finding an assortment. I look for nice novels there in addition to books that I can swap on Paperback Book Swap on the internet or books that my daughter might like. Here is just a few we found. The lettering book has already been requested on PBS.
This one I’m keeping for my Grandkids to play with when they visit.
My Granddaughter might like this book for journaling.
This journal is for me. It has the softest leather cover.
Cookbooks for the booth
The photo book is on someone’s wish list on PBS.
Even though there weren’t many sales, we found enough to ward off thrifting withdrawal. I know a lot of you are still experiencing heavy snow with no chance of thrifting. Hope it melts soon for you. My sister and niece in Missouri are so tired of the snow. They had between 8 and 14 inches during that last storm and then had three more last night. I am so glad that our snow is gone. Now if it would just warm up. Stay safe and be warm.
Girl! You hit the JackPot Once Again! My daughter would flip over the Coke Bowl! Which of the GoodWill Stores did you hit? I don not like the one in Smyrna that much! The only other one I have been to other than Murfreesboro is in Rivergate! That one is pretty nice. Anyway – stay warm!!! Blessings!
You managed to find some very cool stuff! I love those old sewing machine drawers. The books are great, I need to take a look at PBS and see if I can find some items to list on there. I got that baby food cookbook for my daughter! I’m needing a junkin fix now!
No fun shopping for me today – to cold. I did go to the grocery, post office and stuff like that. Stores packed like a couple of days before the holidays, due to the weather forecast.
Bring on the Spring !
Enjoy your weekend.
Glenda
You did it again! Always finding great stuff, I love the little shelf. Think you should distress it up a little. Glad you didn’t freeze stiff. LOL Blessings, Vicky
Love love love that little table! And what a wonderful assortment of books! They all look like they’re in pristine shape. New Home was very well know in the olden days. I owned a New Home treadle base made into a table and think I have some of their stuff in my collection. Wish I was close enough to go with you next Saturday!
Oooh! What great finds! Love the shelf, drawers, table…heck I think I love it all! The weather was a bit better here in Arizona, but the sales were lack luster.
Wish I could go to that church sale next Saturday as well. Happy Hunting.
